  1. put the garlic (4 cloves), onions (3 pieces), ginger (1 Tbsp), peppers (5 pieces), coriander (2 tsp), cumin (2 tsp), nutmeg (2 tsp) and cloves (4 pieces) in a blender and blend it into a paste

  2. saute the blended spice paste in a pan until fragrant

  3. add the knotted lemongrass (1 stalk), the chopped santen (1 block), coconut milk (200 ml) and the bouillon (1 cube)

  4. add the beef (500 g), two cups of water, stir and let it simmer on low heat for at least 3 hours, until the meat is tender

  5. meanwhile in a seperate pan, toast the grated coconut (4 Tbsp) on low heat until golden brown - watch it closely as it burns quickly

  6. when the rendang is ready, stir in the toasted coconut, add salt to your liking, mix well and serve with some turmeric rice and some veggies :) enjoy!
